{"id":2187,"date":"2026-01-07T12:11:31","date_gmt":"2026-01-07T11:11:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.pamas.de\/?p=2187"},"modified":"2026-01-07T12:11:31","modified_gmt":"2026-01-07T11:11:31","slug":"pioneering-partners-setting-new-standards-for-particle-counting-in-ex-zones","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.pamas.de\/en\/pioneering-partners-setting-new-standards-for-particle-counting-in-ex-zones\/","title":{"rendered":"Pioneering Partners \u2013 Setting New Standards for Particle Counting in Ex Zones"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pamas.de\/\">PAMAS<\/a> has played a central role in launching the world\u2019s first commercially available <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iso.org\/obp\/ui\/#iso:std:iso:11171:ed-5:v1:en\">ISO 11171:2022-<\/a>calibrated particle counter certified for operation in explosive atmospheres.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In partnership with <a href=\"https:\/\/atexparticlecountingcompany.com\/\">The ATEX Particle Counting Company (APCC), <\/a>formerly Reynolds Contamination Control, we are proud that the new\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/atexparticlecountingcompany.com\/s50-p-z1\/\">S50-P-Z1<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0OLS50-P-Z1\u00a0systems are already attracting significant global interest.<br \/>At the core of these innovations are\u00a0PAMAS <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iso.org\/obp\/ui\/#iso:std:iso:11171:ed-5:v1:en\">ISO 11171<\/a>-calibrated sensors, the only calibrated particle-counting technology on the market suitable for\u00a0oils, fuels, saltwater, and water-based fluids\u00a0while fully compliant with\u00a0ATEX, IECEx and UKEX\u00a0requirements. This capability gives <a href=\"https:\/\/atexparticlecountingcompany.com\/\">APCC<\/a> access to previously unreachable sectors including\u00a0oil &amp; gas, shipbuilding, green energy, chemical and pharmaceutical industries, food processing, mining, and traditional energy generation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A Step Change for Hazardous Locations<br \/><\/strong>Historically, particle counting in\u00a0Zone 1 explosive atmospheres\u2014such as offshore platforms, airport refuelling zones and petrochemical facilities\u2014required samples to be manually collected and transported off-site to laboratories due to the risks of using electrical devices in these environments. Through <a href=\"https:\/\/atexparticlecountingcompany.com\/\">APCC\u2019s<\/a> collaboration with Italian Exd specialists\u00a0MAM, and the engineering work led by <a href=\"https:\/\/atexparticlecountingcompany.com\/\">APCC<\/a> Engineering Director\u00a0Peter Remmert, this barrier has now been removed. Together, we have developed an explosion-proof\u00a0aluminium or AISI 316L\u00a0enclosure that safely houses the advanced\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/atexparticlecountingcompany.com\/s50-p-z1\/\">S50-P-Z1<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0OLS50-P-Z1\u00a0particle counters, enabling\u00a0live on-site data\u00a0and full\u00a0cloud connectivity.<\/p>\n<p><strong>System Overview<br \/><\/strong>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/atexparticlecountingcompany.com\/s50-p-z1\/\">S50-P-Z1<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0OLS50-P-Z1\u00a0are fully automatic Exd optical particle-counting systems using a laser-diode light source for continuous cleanliness monitoring.
